Every year we trek up to Northern Wisconsin in search of the perfect snow flake. This snowmobile trip starts off by finding a house with easy access to trails and a view to enhance the parties that cap off a hard day of sledding.
We found this incredible house called Island View II on Scattering Rice lake (see picture). With accommodations for 24 we have plenty of room to rock this house. Our last adventure had us there on new years 2002. To bring in the new year we constructed an 8ft tower of timber and ignited it. Our neighbor’s puny fire was put to shame as our flames grew, and soon we had defectors join us around our "Real" fire toasting in the new year in style. To feed our hungry friends, my friend and I deep fried two turkeys and supplied a giant pot of hot glog to keep them warm.

Eagle River is the Snowmobile Capital of the World, and home of "The Eagle River 500" With an average annual snowfall of nearly 200 inches, Eagle River boasts some of the best snowmobiling in the world. The numerous area snowmobile clubs groom and maintain a 500 mile trail network that is known as the "Eagle River 500. These trails wind through beautiful forests and across frozen lakes. To keep an eye on the weather conditions Snowconditions.com lets us see the snow that has fallen via the SNOWCAM and gives us trial conditions.
Every morning we would wake up and head out on the trails in search of virgin snow. The ride up into Michigan is beyond words. The trails are a blast and when you finally cross over you find yourself in a state forest with long snow covered roads that allow you to test out your top speed.
One thing that you must remember when out on full day rides, watch you fuel! There is nothing worse than being on empty, lost in the middle of nowhere, and go gas station in site. And if you are in this situation I would advise you NOT to call your wife on a cell phone that is barley getting a signal to tell here you are lost. There may be confusion due to static on the line or you signal going in and out and when you are disconnected she calls the local police ( Illinois) to tell them her husband is lost in Wisconsin on a snowmobile. Well we did finally find a gas station and a pay phone to call the wife back to tell her we were safe. That is when we found out she had called the police to report us missing. She then asked us to call the police and tell them we were ok even though we were still 6 hours from home, on a pay phone and 3 states away. Oh the memories always make these trips that much more fun.
